Reviews
A lovely retreat
So we wanted a lovely retreat that was located to many places of interest and near the coast of Suffolk.
Our hosts certainly made our stay at Simpers Drift a warm, friendly and relaxed one, and were always on hand to share their extensive knowledge and handy tips for local walks, tasty eateries and places to visit to compliment the beautifully presented accommodation. We would highly recommend a stay at Simpers Drift.

Nature Reserves
RSPB Minsmere – world renowned wetland, Boyton and Snape Warren.
National Trust Orford Ness.
The nearby Woodland Trust Pound Farm is a wonderful mix of woodland, orchard, grassy race, wildflower meadow and ponds covering 250 acres and nearly all fenced – ideal for those with four-legged guests!

Hamford Water National Nature Reserve for seal watching trips (from Harwich via the Felixstowe to Harwich harbour foot ferry).
Beaches
For miles of wonderful sandy beach you won’t beat Southwold (home of Adnams brewery) with its lighthouse, gaily painted beach huts and Walberswick (try not catching a crab).
From Dunwich to Felixstowe is basically one long beach, mostly shingle and sand with the gentile seaside town of Aldeburgh the closest beach to Simpers Drift.
Sutton Hoo
Just a 15 minute drive away is National Trust owned archaeological site Sutton Hoo, featured in the book ‘The Dig’ (filmed starring Ralph Feinnes, Carey Mulligan and Lily James). The exhibition includes replicas of the astounding Saxon treasures (originals in the British Museum) found at the site.
Port of Felixstowe
Within a 35 minute drive is Felixstowe with its beaches.
A passenger and bike Ferry leaves from Landguard Fort (English Heritage) to historical Harwich and Shotley, This is provided by award winning Harwich Harbour Ferry Services who also run fascinating seal watching trips all year round.
